Alanna McCatty is a senior Communications major at Pace University. She is originally from Northern Virginia where she discovered her love for Broadcast Journalism through an internship with the 2012 presidential campaign.
Alanna recently won a prestigious scholarship from New York Women in Communications, Inc., and will be interning this upcoming summer with The Interpublic Group of Companies, which is one of the world’s premier global advertising, and marketing services companies. She is a board member of the High School Out Reach Committee, and she is also a board member of the Women Empowerment Network at Pace University. Additionally, Alanna serves as the treasurer of the newly launched organization, Successful Women at Pace, and she also serves as the Vice President of Lambda Sigma, the national honor society for college sophomores.
She currently interns with the MedShadow Foundation where she reports new findings and research on the side effects of prescription drugs. She states that it’s very rewarding to provide information that could potentially prevent a consumer from the negative effects of a prescribed drug. Alanna also states that working with Medshadow provides her with the opportunity to sharpen her research, analysis and writing skills.
