First Person and guest post writer agreement

MedShadow Foundation is a nonprofit health information site focused on the side effects and alternatives to medicines. Even though MedShadow is nonprofit, we refuse to accept support from pharmaceutical companies or medical device manufacturers. For that reason, every person who writes an articles for MedShadow must be free from any affiliation with pharmaceutical companies or medical device manufacturers. That includes employment, consulting, freelancing, substantial investments. 

Your submission of an article for consideration indicates your consent to exclusive publication by MedShadow and consent to the following simple rules.

All First Person and guest posts must comply with the following criteria:

1. First person articles and guest posts must be original works that have not been previously published on any website, forum, chat or social media site.
2. Content must be your own work. Plagiarism or copyright infringement is not permitted.
3. When quoting others pr referencing facts or studies, please link to the source.
4. Once the post has been submitted to MedShadow, you may re-publish the post online, in part or in whole as long as you follow these guidelines: 
   1. Wait two weeks following publication on MedShadow to re-post your article.
   2. Cite MedShadow as the original source.
   3. Link to the original article on MedShadow.org.
   4. Include a canonical tag to the article so MedShadow is noted as the original source: <link rel=”canonical” href=”URL OF BLOG POST”> (or use an appropriate plugin).
5. You may promote (and please do!) your First Person or guest post on your own website, Twitter, Facebook, or other social media forums via a link to the article on the MedShadow site..
6. Guest posts cannot include any affiliate links, but a link to your own website is fine. .
7. MedShadow  reserves the right to add its own affiliate links where appropriate.
8. First person and guest post writer shall not be entitled to any compensation for writing the post or for any revenue generated from affiliate links, if included.
9. Guest Posts shall include images/video under the following circumstances:
   1. MedShadow  is responsible for acquiring all images/videos and necessary permissions for use of said images on the blog. Any and all images/videos submitted for use by the writer are subject to inclusion at the sole discretion of MedShadow.
10. The writer may supply images for use on the blog if they are the copyright holder of the image/video and can provide evidence of copyright. In the event this evidence cannot be provided, no images/video provided by writers can be used.
11. Writers will receive the writing credit as author of their post and we will link to your site and social media at your request..
12. MedShadow  will amplify the First person or guest gost on a variety of social media networks, but does not guarantee any particular site or reach.
13. MedShadow does not permit links to the writer’s website within the post unless it is directly related and relevant to the topic.
14. Links to third-party sites shall be approved by MedShadow, and must be relevant to the topic.
15. All SEO’d anchor text or tags will be reviewed and subject to inclusion at the discretion of MedShadow .
16. Excessive links or links that appear to be affiliate or spam will be removed at the discretion of MedShadow .
17. All guest posts will be reviewed and approved by MedShadow prior to posting.
18. MedShadow  reserves the right to edit posts for style, voice, length and where necessary to ensure the post is consistent with the mission of MedShadow.
19. MedShadow will review any material changes with the writer made prior to publication.
20. MedShadow  reserves the right to refuse publication or remove the guest post without prior notice to the guest writer.
21. By providing a First Person story or guest post to MedShadow, you agree you are not becoming part of the website nor shall you hold yourself out to be a member of the MedShadow staff. 
22. MedShadow  reserves the right to refuse publication of any post that appears to have been submitted for the purpose of advertising a business or service.
23. By submitting a First Person story or guest post, you agree that you have read this Agreement and agree to be bound by it.
