Introducing our series of short videos about the latest news, studies and controversies related to your drugs and their side effects.

A few months ago, Jonathan Block came on board as MedShadow’s new content manager. He’s smart and has great depth of medical knowledge. He also makes me laugh. I think you’ll like him too, so we’ve started MedShadow TV. Once a week, for 3-7 minutes, Jonathan and I explain, discuss or debate a health topic.

The topics we choose are ones that intrigue us, challenge us or just revolt us. That’s the case in our first MedShadow TV episode. The FDA has approved a self-controlled stomach pump for those with severe weight problems to “purge” about 30% of the food in their stomachs. Even though it’s approved, it’s controversial and you’ll hear Jonathan and me explore some of the reasons we question the FDA’s approval.

Please watch for MedShadow TV every Monday. Give us a “like” and a “follow” on our YouTube channel as well. And if you’ve got something to say about the topic, feel free to leave a comment at the bottom of the page.
