Help Support Our Independent Journalism and Our Mission
Your donation to MedShadow Foundation funds our rigorous journalism as well as our mission to shed light on the safest ways to take over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription (Rx) medications. While medications have many benefits, it’s essential to know how to balance these against their potential side effects. Our name originates from the fact that side effects can sometimes be difficult to recognize, which is why we work to illuminate and explain medication reactions that may be minimized or obscured.
At MedShadow, we are dedicated to empowering people through our journalism and advocating for improvements in the drug manufacturing process, all to ensure better protection for everyone.
We have not and never will accept any financial support from the pharmaceutical or supplement industries. Your donation allows us to maintain this critical independence and pursue our mission on behalf of your safety, without being beholden to any corporate entities.
IMPROVE FDA INSPECTION RATES
Help Us Make Your Prescription Drugs Safer With Improved Oversight By The FDA
Here’s an alarming fact: More than 2,000 pharmaceutical plants (both overseas and in the U.S.) have not been inspected by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in five years or more. This represents 42% of all 4,700 plants currently registered to produce drugs for the U.S. These facilities, which the FDA last reviewed prior to May 2019, produce essential medications such as antibiotics, blood thinners, and cancer treatments*.
What are we committed to?
- Awareness - Medications can be life-extending — even lifesaving — as well as relieve condition-related pain, and improve optimal functionality. But all medicines have side effects, and we know that oversight is far from perfect. That’s why we help you understand side effects, how to track them, and how to advocate for yourself.
- Education - Explore ways to evaluate the medications you take as you age, switch brands, receive a new diagnosis and more. Learn about integrative medicine approaches and healthier lifestyle choices.
- Inspiration - Hear and see the stories of people affected by side effects, and gain insights from unbiased professionals to help you make more informed, meaningful health choices.
Why we need you to partner with us.
Because we never accept money from pharmaceutical or supplement companies, we depend on donors like you.
It’s expensive to create high-quality investigative journalism, and to distribute it in all forms — articles, video, podcasts and webinars. We do not have a paywall because we believe medication safety information is a public service. With your help, we can continue this work and even expand it. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today.

Here are the voices of some recent MedShadow donors
“Medshadow does what other health and medicine websites fail to do–prioritize informed decision-making about health issues over making a quick buck. Thank you!”

“As an immune-compromised patient, I was feeling pretty much alone, frustrated and isolated as my doctors were not sufficiently answering my repeated questions. Medshadow Foundation gave me an anchor. I gained more enlightenment by reading about the journey of others, and felt like I was part of a community. I also feel that my experience may have been instrumental in helping someone else. Thank you!!!”
