After receiving my Master’s of Fine Arts from the Tisch School of the Arts during the heart of 2008’s national financial crisis, I found myself at a challenging moment in terms of my physical and mental health. I decided to move to Boulder, Colorado–something that seemed like a random decision at the time–to figure out what to do with my life. It was there, living in a small mountain town with a lot of time to focus on myself, that my eyes were first opened to the idea of mind/body wellness.
After experiencing the benefits of proper nutrition and other holistic strategies for a chronic condition I had tried — and failed — to ease with a few different medications, I moved back to New York and began a career centered on helping other people feel as empowered about their health as I finally felt.
For more than 12 years, I’ve been dedicated to creating science-based content that gets beyond the sometimes scary headlines to uncover the truth of the matter, all while acknowledging that wellness is not a one-size-fits-all proposition.
I have worked as a Senior Editor for places including Forbes Health, Healthline, and the Carnegie Corporation, bringing with me a deep dedication to understanding the intricacies of the newest scholarly study, and a curiosity about the inner workings of the pharmaceutical industry and government regulatory agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control.
While I firmly believe in the power of lifestyle changes, I also fully acknowledge the benefits of modern medicine, which is why I have found myself at Medshadow, a foundation built on scientifically-based inquisitiveness around both modalities. The rigorous, independent journalism that Medshadow delivers is exactly what people need to make choices that feel right for them. In a time when there’s so much information it can be overwhelming, Medshadow provides an unbiased, fact-based approach that can be trusted.
My passion for wellness plays a role in my daily life as well, which is why you can usually find me outside, at the gym, listening to a science podcast or experimenting (with varied success) with plant-based recipes in my kitchen.
