Shamard Charles, MD-MPH

Medical Advisor for MedShadow Foundation

Shamard Charles received his MD from the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and his MPH from Harvard’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He is currently an assistant professor of public health and health promotion at St. Francis College in Brooklyn. He completed his Harvard Capstone Project at Middle Collegiate Church and has previously taught at City University of New York, City College.

Dr. Charles also writes extensively and has authored pieces at the intersection of culture, medicine and public health. He spent two years as senior health journalist at NBCUniversal Media, and was a Global Fellow at the United Nations Foundation. He also volunteers extensively and sits on the Antibias Review Board of Dot Dash/Very Well Health.
