The risk of developing type 2 diabetes due to statins is modest, a new study by the British researchers states. Researchers at the University College London and the University of Glasgow examined almost 130,000 participants from clinical trials. These participants were found to have a small increase in risk of developing type 2 diabetes of about 12 percent over a four-year period, and also to gain an excess of 240g (around half a pound) in weight.
