Charles Platkin Ph.D., JD, MPH

Charles Platkin, PhD, JD, MPH, is founder and executive director of the Center for Food as Medicine & Longevity, a nonprofit advancing evidence-based nutrition, healthspan, and education. A public health scholar focused on nutrition, food policy, and obesity prevention, he is a Distinguished Lecturer Emeritus at Hunter College, City University of New York. From 2012 to 2023, he led the Hunter College NYC Food Policy Center, advancing research on food access and public health nutrition. Dr. Platkin has published in peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior and the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. He is the author of eight books, including the forthcoming Eat to Cheat Death: Using Food as Medicine to Live Better, Live Stronger, Live Healthier, and Live Longer (Simon & Schuster, 2027). His syndicated “Diet Detective” column ran for nearly 20 years in more than 150 newspapers and media outlets.
