His 2023 book, Mapping the Darkness: The Visionary Scientists Who Unlocked the Mysteries of Sleep, won the American Society of Journalists and Authors’ 2024 Best Book Award in the biography/history category. It was also named a New York Times Editors’ Choice and selected as one of the best books of 2023 by The New Yorker and Harvard Public Health magazine.
