Faulty Generics?
This is literally destroying my life. I have always and continue to take my exact dose. I’m 29 and started taking adderall at 6 . Teva was always the generic to get. Now in the past year and then ESPECIALLY since June and then the worst it ever been where one month it just stopped working in October/november. Also, I noticed I’m having severe histamine reactions the past two years that got progressively worse the past year. And again the past few months have been the worst. If I don’t take my meds, I don’t have these insane flares, so I have to choose to take and barely function since I have two toddlers and my own
Business I run but will have severe flares tha I need to attempt to control with Zyrtec and fotamodine all day now. And these side effects are truly dangerous. Resting heart rate randomly at 126 most days? NEVER had heart issues, and my heart looks great when scanned or imaged. I’m telling you, they are poisoning us with unregulated meds these cooperations don’t care and will skim on quality because money rules and profit over people. Honestly. Life has just been getting worse and worse. I just wish they’d do the right thing and give us our life back. Our divinity back. I mean they already enlarge us in this cooperate world and work us to death, so atleast help us function at a decent livable level. It is no exaggeration when we say this is ruining our lives. Most of us have been on this medication our entire lives. We don’t know how to navigate the world without it because even if we did grow up without this medication, it’s still so complicated because of our brain so imagine us never having to do that ..it is so hard.
Well, that’s what a representative government is supposed to do.
Their job is to take charge of these issues so the 15 million of us taking medication don’t have to personally call tens or hundreds of doctors, pharmacies, supplies, distributors, and even manufacturers to get medical treatment.
Unfortunately, and for many reasons, that is not how the government is operating right now.
Terri, I would urge you to reach out to your local and state representatives and news media.
To others: please do not respond for a debate on politics. I urge you instead to call your representatives regarding this issue and reach out to news outlets urging them to contact Jessica’s and/or follow up on the work she has done thus far!
Just adding another validation post to say that I’m right there with you.
I have tried to bring it up with different pharmacies and doctors and have learned to hide these comments from the very people that need to be hearing them.
Your experience is understood and shared I assure you!
I was given sandoz this month, and NOTHING is the same of my efficacy. Battling to try to work it out somehow, but WOW. My pharmacist made me feel crazy. Maybe they should get actual full-spectrum training, cuz this is BEWILDERING right now ..
I have been dealing with the same issue since the pandemic. Been on Adderall XR since it was first released and the generics used to work ok but gave me headaches sometimes. Now its like they dont work at all. Malinkrodt and Lannett are the two worst I’ve had. Teva is better. That said, I am lucky to have good insurance and a very helpful doctor so this year we fought the battle to submit dozens of forms and get the brand name Adderall covered under the “non-preferred brand” category. The copay is $250 a month but with the shortages, I can’t get the generic anywhere in town anyway. Wish I could just be normal.
I got lucky with my doctor & pharmacy based off comments on here. Once I explained issues to my doctor – she started notating it on my scripts to avoid “said” brand. Pharmacy also put on my chart that I decline Lannett. I had a great experience with Elite except it did cause sleep disturbances. But Lannett overall has been HORRIBLE.
Finally.. I’ve been gaslit for years. I knew it
What these manufacturers are doing is unethical, immoral, and possibly illegal. I am seeing it destroy people’s life. Jobs lost, family abandoning them, unable to get anything done. This is a legal, medically necessary medication for millions of people and the FDA and DEA need to insure the patients are receiving safe and effective medication.
I have a genetic mutation, MTHFR, and I have to have the name brand. Last month the pharmacy filled with generic and I didn’t catch it until I got home. The pharmacy would not take it back. So I took the generic, I was in bed 2 weeks later completely suicial, to afraid to get out of bed.
This is an issue I face with all anti depressants. My doctor has worked very hard to explain to the insurance company that I have to have name brand. All docs and pharmacists believe there is no difference but I am here to tell you, there IS a huge difference.
Hang in there! I have adhd and depression and need the Teva brand of Adderall to work. It does nothing. It’s a waste of my time. I hate the Sandoz brand. I get an allergic reaction to it. It causes itching non stop all over my body, sores in my scalp, swollen tongue to name a few. CVS has Sandoz listed as an allergy and yet thought it was a good idea to give it to me this month. I could have died and yet they continue to get away with these things. The fillers they’re using are awful. The cons are much outweighing the pros. I’m out of this game
Can we point out how the government treats the people that use this medication as guilty before proven otherwise. No one can get this medication unless the call for it the day before they run out. If its on a Friday the doctor will NOT order it until Monday (your work schedule does NOT matter). In my experience I’ve brought the medication with me every time I go to the doctor and the generics have different color capsules and internal beads are sometimes multicolored. The doctor tells me its the same medication, and he cant do anything, he cant prescribe more or a different brand. Qs that is up to the pharmacy, he cannot prescribe the name brand without insurance having me take multiple other drug trials which could have the exact same problems with generics/name brand so it would not solve the underlying issues of figuring out if this specific brand is hurting or helping people. The company’s of bad medication will never be proven and the cycle of Americas horrible medical system evolves to get even worse.
I take 20 milligram TEVA pills. I took 40 milligrams this morning and immediately fell asleep after that. When I woke up I took another 80 milligrams. I feel absolutely nothing. It’s been 3 hours now. I could fall back asleep if I wanted to. Why is it ok for patients to be taking drugs that are not made properly and do not do the things they are supposed to? This is quite dangerous, actually, for patients who are expecting and depending on a certain reaction that never happens. I can see this easily leading to depression or possibly suicide. I hope someone cares about people enough to fix this.
What’s currently the most effective generic adderall ir ? . Teva has been falling short of being the top , and just tried sandoz this month and it’s very weak. Lannett is good . Name brand costs pharmacies $1000 per bottle, might be worth it , never tried them before
glad to see an article on this and hope to see many more. I am 40 years old and have been on ADHD medication (Adderall) since i was 12. Up until 2022 it has been a constant struggle to find actual adderall. TEVA worked well up until this point. I constantly have to try to find SANDOZ which worked well for me but have yet to find it around my area. ELITE PHARMACEUTICALS is what most pharmacies around here carry and this company is absolute garbage and i hope they get removed as well as they seem to be taking over a lot of companies and are based out of New Jersey. Everything said in this article is what i have went through every month for over a year now. i hope to see more people come out and speak up against this matter.
Thank you for completing this very important investigative work. This is a real issue, and I hope is raises awareness to that fact.
This article is what ive been battling for a long time.
Ive had doctors accuse me of trying to beat the system. Its caused me a lot of stress, wasted time, embarrassment, and more.
Today I was told by a nurse when complaining this recent fill of camber is not working at all, during a critical timeline at work. She went on to tell me
“I cannot call saying its not working, that its a pharmacy issue.” Well yeah, it is. But without a script saying no generic from my doctor I cant do anything about it. She said “you have to finish this dose”
I asked to void this script, send me a new one that’s not for generic and she says its illegal?
I said thats not true, she replies do not talk to me like that.
Like what happened to our medical professionals, im not trying to do anything but live my life as I have been. But now im being seen once again as a bad person or someone cheating a system.
Wish people weren’t so negative minded all the time. Its hard enough to voice that somethings not right, let alone find true support to solve it.
This just happened to me with Savella which I take for Fibromyalgia. I was dosing up also and was in the middle of a flare-up so it took me a while to realize that the Savella was in fact a generic. It was not even working as well as the lower dose of the name brand. The cost is triple, but it wasn’t doing me any good to take something that was working like a placebo.
After being on TEVA and switching to Lannett it simply does not work.
I too agree, Generic Adderall isn’t the same! Teva has always been my preferred. Even it isn’t like it used to be like in 2012-2015. It’s no fun having to call 25 pharmacies before fill date to find a brand worth taking. Some pharmacies give you mouth … It’s just not right!
Stay tuned. An article on lisdexamfetamine is incoming!
Here because of this. I just noticed I forgot to take my [generic] Vyvanse this morning, 16 hours ago. Normally I have severe emotional reactions when I forget my meds, I didn’t notice. This is the second or third time I’ve done that this month. I feel genuinely stupider than I normally am. I hate this.
Thank you! After 2019 I got off my working adhd medication. 5 years later I decided I needed my medication and went back on it. It’s completely different and painful how none of the alternatives seem to work either. My work life has crumbled, and I am a shell of my former medicated self. I recently found an old dose from my prior prescription and took it. It worked as effective AS BEFORE and I knew it wasn’t all in my head. Thank you for using your platform for us. I look forward to supporting future articles and research from you!
