I started experiencing heart palpitations about a week after my second Pfizer shot. I am NOT a medical professional, but here is what has been helping me the past few days (my palpitations are now more mild and less frequent after two days of the below regimen):
– I take a zinc/calcium/magnesium supplement (magnesium has been suggested here and elsewhere to improve palpitations, but I did not notice an improvement by taking magnesium alone)
– I take a quercetin supplement (there seems to be some evidence that quercetin helps Covid symptoms [https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04377789] and vaccine side-effects, from what I’ve heard, may also be from a similar kind of inflammation)
– I take a turmeric supplement for its anti-inflammatory properties
– I’ve been doing my best to eat less inflammatory foods (dairy, sugar) and more anti-inflammatory ones (spicy foods, tart cherries)

I have moderate health anxiety at times, so I can’t guarantee this is not placebo, but I wanted to share to give others on here some optimism. I’m so sorry for those that are suffering — it is scary for us to be in uncharted territory. I hope this is able to help others.

(definitely not a perfect fix, by any means, but it does feel like improvement!)

I am really happy I found this site. I am on day 8 of strange side effects. I am a 36 y/o female with no health issues and have never had Covid. I had the normal side effects of two days of 101 fever, headaches, aches etc. Once the fever subsided, I started getting high blood pressure, severe sinus and ear pressure, tingling in my head, blurred vision, loss of appetite and dizziness/lightheadedness and foggy. Everyday, I think it is getting better but today started experiencing elevated heart rate while resting. My normal resting heart rate is 60 bpm and mine is hovering 70-95, which is very abnormal for me. My headache is still lingering a bit, and I started taking antihistamines to help incase its related to allergies.

I went to urgent care and spoke to my doctors and no medical professional will admit it is from the vaccine, which is very disappointing but not surprising, they have no idea what this vaccine will do to people. I am glad I got the vaccine just really want to feel normal again and I definitely do not feel myself.

Again, every day is getting better but its impairing my ability to work, drive and just live. Hope it subsides soon, really hate living like this.

Just to follow up on this, I ended up getting a double ear infection with fluid in my ears, so if you have ear pressure or issues get it looked at as it could be how your body reacts to something foreign, I was all better after z-pak and realized the dizziness was added from vertigo of ear infection. Which was all caused by how my body reacted to the vaccine.

It took 30 days for me to feel back to myself. The racing of heart and dizziness/faintish is something that comes and goes in waves but small ones. Overall I am about 100% back to myself but the thought of getting a booster shot is something I may have to think about when the time comes 🙂

This is word for word all of my symptoms. I am dizzy constantly and brain fog is taking over my life. Doctors have not helped at all and I have no idea what to do. I have ear and sinus pressure and it won’t go away with antibiotics. It’s been 20 days since my vaccine.

SarahApril 30, 2021 7:31 PM

I have tingling in my head too! Day 21 today after first dose. Seems to be getting better but now even feel buzzing/tingling in my feet. I still have plugged ears and vision issues. Seems like things are getting better, but slow. Let me know if you find anything that helps it.

I just posted a “reply” to my initial post for second vaccine outcomes to keep it all bundled.

I am a 49 year old female. I received my second Moderna shot Monday morning. By the evening I experienced aches, chills, fever and sweating which I was prepared for after reading the possible side effects. When I woke up during the night, I started laughing uncontrollably for almost 30 minutes with repetitive speech. I have never experienced anything like it and have not found anyone with a similar side effect. I took Tylenol, but stopped after a day of a racing heartbeat, not knowing if it was the vaccine or the Tylenol. Side effects are gone as of Thursday morning. The vaccine is worth it and I consider side effects to be minor, though now I’m very curious about the uncontrollable laughing and repetitive speech. I previously suffered from Bells Palsy 14-15 years ago.

ChrisFApril 29, 2021 10:46 AM

Hello. I had my first Moderna vaccine March 29. Post-vaccine I experienced sore and swollen arm at vaccine site and slight fatigue. I had my second vaccine April 26. I experienced a slight burning sensation at vaccine site. Within 5 minutes I experienced a pins-and-needle sensation down that arm and hand. The staff on-site said that was normal. It went away with an hour. About 12 hours after the shot, I awoke with a 101 fever. The entire next day I ran a low-grade fever and felt like I had the flu. I also had a headache. Tylenol helped. Forty-eight hours later, I experienced fatigue and a sour stomach. Three days post-vaccine I am experiencing a sour stomach, lack of appetite, and feel not quite myself. I’m hoping it resolves soon.

KimUApril 28, 2021 11:19 PM

Hello all. Thank you for sharing your experiences. It has helped me navigate mine. I am a 46yo female, reasonably fit, thin, with asthma. I also have a history of sensitivity to medications, my body just seems to metabolize them differently than an average person. I often end up dealing with side effects at lower dosages or side effects that are listed as ‘uncommon’ (or not at all). And vaccines in the past have hit hard. So, I guess I am not surprised to find myself here and I still believe vaccines are better for the vast majority of the population. I’m just adding my bit so if others are experiencing the same issues we can help each other.

I had my first Pfizer dose April 16th. I felt a very mild tingling in the fingertips of my left arm (injection arm) but nothing else in the next few hours. My arm wasn’t even sore. By that night I had a bit of a foggy brain, tightness in my scalp, and pressure across the front of my head. Nothing too bad, nothing I couldn’t deal with. The next day I was exhausted and slept quite a bit. My eyes were quite watery (for several days). The brain fog increased as the day passed, the tightness in my scalp increased and started down into my neck, mild stabbing headache in my temples, my ears felt full (like they needed to pop), and a mild burning sensation at the crown of my head began. The tingling in my fingertips became bilateral. Again, nothing I couldn’t deal with for a couple of days. The next day I noticed the same slight fuzzy tingling in spots on the bottoms of both feet, over 48 hours it became the whole bottom of both feet and moved into my calves. Over the course of the next few days the tingling in my feet, legs, hands, arms would increase and become chronic. The burning at the crown of my head was also chronic and more intense. The pressure at the front disappeared and I would get throbbing headaches in my temples instead (mostly at night), tightness in the sides and back of my head/scalp increased. Towards evening and overnight all of these things become more intense. Overnight I would wake up with some pretty extreme pins and needles in my arms, hands, feet, legs, back & sides of head, neck (sometimes radiating into my shoulders). And every few days something seemed to migrate (like into my neck, shoulders, back, further up my legs, etc). My back muscles started to tremble at times; eventually, for a couple of days, they actually started that same zapping, pins and needles. I had some mild intermittent jerking motions at night early on (mostly my neck and back/shoulders), which went away in 4 days. After a few days more my palms and arms stopped tingling. At 12 days out the legs are less intense but still chronic, still worse at night. Headaches in my temples at night, foggy brain. And I still have the burning at the crown of my head, though less intense. None of it woke me up last night for the first time since it started. I did have some pressure in my chest and diaphragm yesterday (new and lasted about 36 hours) that turned into sharper pains (I’m thinking lymph inflammation- I know they said no mammograms for a couple of weeks afterwards due to that). Oh, also lymph pressure/pain at night in my thighs, that’s been going on since day 2 or 3; it makes my legs ache and feel cold. And some very mild tinnitus that comes and goes (also at night, I’ve had some issues with it in the past, it’s just more persistent at this point). I’ve spoken to my allergist who isn’t sure if it’s a type of allergic reaction or just an inflammatory one. I’ll have a follow up next week and drop back in to update if I find anything that helps. Good luck to everyone dealing with some of these strange things.

Hi KimU, I just shared my story and it is very similar symptoms. I’m at Day 21. Not sure if nerve issue or inflammation. Let me know if you find something that helps! I’m starting prednisone now to see.

JodyApril 28, 2021 3:46 PM

I joined this discussion a while back because I am dealing with pain after my second Pfizer vaccine given to me on 3/15. 6 weeks later, after -X-Rays, blood work and my PCP and Pain Mgmt. Physician, I was just given some meds but not pain meds because my body does not tolerate pain meds well. My RIBS on my right side are in constant pain— it has nothing to do with breathing—I had costochondritis a while back -and now I either have chronic costochondritis or I may have shingles without a rash. I had researched everything prior to the diagnosis from the pain mgmt. doctor. I will be on the medications–Meloxicam-NSAID-higher dose and works better than OTC meds and at night, I was given Gabapentin for nerve pain. It seems that I also may have intercostal neuralgia. Keep in mind, that my vaccines were given in my left arm but my right side has been affected by this. I also had swelling and pain in my right arm pit but that went away. The rib pain is hard to deal with and I keep reading all of these comments daily and I am so sorry that we are all going through this. I most likely would have waited to get the vaccine if I had known about all of these “unusual” side effects because it has changed my quality of life as I am sure, many of you feel the same way. I specifically took the vaccine because I am in the high risk group because I have COPD and did not want to go near anyone because fear has been a constant with me since the pandemic began. I am not advertising my side effects to anyone via social media because I do believe that the majority of people do fine with the vaccine and we are the minority. I have so many relatives and friends that took the vaccines with no complications whatsoever and I come on here to see what else is happening to many of us. I also have to wear an extra large lidocaine patch for 12 hours a day on my ribs extending into my back. This makes life a bit more pleasant. I have my next doctor’s appointment next week and I will most likely get an MRI. I am very grateful for this site because it’s a bit more comforting to know others are going through this with me. While I wish none of us were, it makes me realize that our side effects are being reported and hopefully VAERS and the CDC will publish these unusual side effects. Thinking of all of you and sending you positive vibes.

Hi Jody, I’m so sorry you’ve had bad reactions! Has it gotten better by now, I hope? Did you report your experience to VAERS regularly? You didn’t mention your age, if you’re in ok physical shape, etc.? It all helps us decide about first, or second shots! Hugs to you!

Yes, I had symptoms exactly 14 days after the first shot of Pfizer (4/2). They are still happening.

Patty H.April 28, 2021 2:21 PM

Patty H. Age 69 This is day 31 after receiving the second Phizer shot. I have had a barrage of symptoms within a few hours of receiving the 2nd. Shot. Before the covid shots I have not had migraines for at least 10 years, but now I have had a constant Aura in my right eye for 31 days with at least 25 migraines in the last 31 days. I’ve had facial numbness, hand, foot, and cheek numbness on the right side. The migraine pain is on the left temporal area traveling into my head. I’ve had an MRI which was within normal limits. I wake up from a sound sleep to a migraine with aura. I experience dizziness, pusatile tinnitus in my left ear which keeps me from falling asleep, and a constant tiredness. All my doctor has done is given me pain medication which prevents me from functioning normal. If I had only known I would react like this I never would have gotten the second shot. My life right now is being cheated due to the shot. If you are hesitant about getting it please investigate first. I think I may have come through covid better than this. One month already wasted!! When will it end?

thaiMay 9, 2021 1:22 AM

I’m so sorry you’re going through this, Patty! Has it all gotten better, or somewhat better, at least? Do you have any underlying conditions, are you in pretty good physical condition? I’m in my 70s and considering getting Pfizer vaccine since my family has been on me about it constantly and I really would like the protection! Everyone else in my family, from 17 years to 98 years has done fine with only the “usual” day after flu symptoms, or just more tired than usual for a day. I have fibromyalgia with nerve pain and bursitis in shoulders and hips pretty bad. It all comes and goes, worse with heavy yard work or doing resistance work, which I love and need! Very difficult, as I might have a bad time with Covid. I hope you’re better by now!

Steve OApril 27, 2021 8:14 PM

I had my first Pfizer shot on 4/2/2021 and had zero side effects for 2 weeks. On Friday 4/16 I woke up gasping for air. My heart was racing and I was extremely fatigued. I was nauseous as well. The next day I was extremely fatigued and couldn’t get out of bed. On Sunday I had an intense headache, which was concerning because I don’t really ever get headaches. I also was dizzy and fatigued. Same symptoms on Monday, so I took the day off. On Tuesday my symptoms subsided a bit and have plateaued until now (4/27). I’m mainly dizzy and fatigued with occasional headaches. This is terrifying. I also had bloodwork, ekg and chest x-ray done. Nothing abnormal was found, thought I feel extremely abnormal. From the research I’ve done, the symptoms seem to be similar to long hauler covid. I think this could be some sort of autoimmune response that is triggered by either Covid or the Vaccine. Its so frustrating that these side effects seem to be downplayed or simply hidden from the public.

Hey Steve I totally agree with you I’m 28 and had one shot of the Moderna on 3/5, I was offered it at work. I didn’t get my second shot. The heart palpitations I still have and just fatigue and muscle weakness. I shouldn’t feel this way at 28. Before this I was fine. I’ve had covid before but didn’t get the long covid. I feel like the vaccine put my immune system out of wack. Two days I’m okay and then the next I’m tired and weak. It’s exhausting and scary. Now I have anxiety because of the symptoms. It’s just a thought but I really want to have my PCP check my liver.

DenApril 28, 2021 2:19 PM

I too am frustrated that all these side effects are not being told!! All you hear is “roll up your sleeve, get the vaccine.” Way, way too many people are having side effects that are NOT being shared with the general public.

JMTApril 28, 2021 8:51 AM

It seems like we are damned if we do damned if we don’t. Get the vaccine and risk bizarre side effects, or get COVID and risk all of that.

ChrisApril 27, 2021 6:02 PM

I got my first shot of the moderna vaccine on March 26th with no issues not even a sore arm. My second one was April 23rd. After 12 hours or so I began to feel a little achy and tired so I went to lay down. Soon after I began to shake uncontrollably from chills and could not get warm. 24 hours in I had a fever of 104. With extra strength Tylenol and wet towels we was able to get it down to 101. I had terrible pain in back neck and feet. Day two. Fever stayed 101-102 with Tylenol every four hours. My ears rang continuous and and my mind would not function. I could not thin correctly dazed and confused and poor sense of balance. Day three. Fever has finally broke. I feel as if I’ve been run over by a truck. Absolutely no energy. Barely any appetite but finally get some decent sleep. Day four now feel pretty good with slight headache Still somewhat brain fogged. I have a grapefruit growing in my armpit and my mouth and lips are blistered terribly. I don’t know what’s gonna pop up next I would hope this would be the end of the side effects but am concerned what long term problems may be.

TizzyPinkApril 26, 2021 4:36 PM

I am 3 weeks post Pfizer. I had fatigue, headache, brain fog and a bit of nausea 24 hours after. One week to the date, experienced it all over again. Since, I have had intermittent severe nausea without vomiting and chills with no fever. Today, 3 weeks to the date, horrible nausea, headache, chills, brain fog and fatigue.
I won’t be getting the second.

Thanks so much for putting most recent at the top! Just too much work loading hundreds of comments to get to ones we haven’t seen. Thanks also for commenting on latest news addition. I confess to scrolling by the intro since I’ve read volumes about each vaccine over the months! New stuff much appreciated, though! This is a wonderful site: not a place for rabid anti-vaxers to wax eloquent, just good folks sharing their experience in hopes it will help someone else, and finding comfort in shared experiences. I share huge frustration at the government’s complete lack of transparence about what actually IS happening to more than a few patients long after vaccination. BTW, I hope commenters will include their age, really helps readers.

Not a word from the media about these awful side effects, if this is all deliberate which I can only assume it then it is extremely unfair to put it mildly, in fact its downright negligent.

Thanks Emma, ever consider summarizing some of the side effects you are seeing on here? Time frames, etc.

MerrillApril 26, 2021 1:35 AM

So glad I found this site. Received my first Pfize 4/17. Felt fine initially. From the night of 4/18 through early 4/23 I had mild chest pain and shortness of breath. Bear in mind that I am very asthmatic. I kept an eye on my bp and pulse and it remained normal. Never had palpitations either. It is now 4/25. No chest pain but I’m experiencing slight shortness of breath and a tinge of headache. I’m accustomed to shortness of breath. I did exercise and am sleeping just fine. I don’t know if I was wrong for not telling a doctor of my symptoms. Knowing that everything else seemed stable made me decide to ride it out. As a precaution, I told my wife so that someone is aware. My 2nd shot is 5/8.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I got the first dose of Pfizer on 4/28 and have been having mild chest pain and tightness in my throat since. I don’t have asthma. No other side effects (my arm hurt for the first day and half but that’s completely gone by now). I was somewhat worried because no website seems to cite chest pain among common side effects.

43 yr old very active female 5’2″, 120 lbs. Underlying conditions seasonal allergies, GERD, ulnar neuropathy. I received my first Pfizer shot on 3/2. I had a stomachache that evening, and the next day I felt generally fatigued and gross. However, that evening I started experiencing a heaviness in the left side of my body, (same side I received shot). It was not so much a room spinning issue as it was the entire left side of me felt as though it weighed more that my right. Very strange. Feeling persisted even when lying down. Additionally worsening of ulnar neuropathy symptoms for about 10 days post vaccine.

I went to the nurse two weeks later, was told possibly allergy related, maybe inner ear. (Nothing visible in ear). Was advised to take sudafed and change from Zyrtec to Claritin. This only helped somewhat, and I couldn’t tolerate the high dosage of Sudafed and Claritin didn’t help with allergy symptoms. CT scan recommended and came back negative. Symptoms persisted for six weeks. Have now cleared. I am well past my second vaccine recommended date of 3/23. I am not going to get the second vaccine. I am too scared.

My guess is that there was some kind of inflammation in my ear somewhere throwing off my balance, and I definitely think it was related to the vaccine.

SandiApril 24, 2021 7:20 PM

I’ve had the Pfizer (First shot) on April 13th and I didn’t have many side effects in the beginning. It was mainly some fatigue and then the left arm being in much pain for two to three days. Tylenol helped with that. Now it’s coming closer to 2 weeks and I’ve had headaches (on/off), some nerve pain on my left forearm on one of the days, spotting after my period (Not sure if anyone else has had this? I know there’s many reasons for spotting but this has me concerned still) and blood when I blow my nose. The blood (spotting / nose) has been 3 days so far. Initially I thought it might be the weather but with everything combined, it has been getting me more anxious. Since I’m in Canada, I won’t be getting my second shot until beginning of August.. Not sure what to make of these symptoms so far since a lot of places say it’s only the first few days… and information has been all over the place. If anyone else can relate to mine, would appreciate hearing.

I had a feeling like a rush of adrenaline approx 5 minutes after my first Moderna vaccine. I figured it was just anxiety. Approximately 25 after my hands, feet, lip, and back of my head became numb and tingly. I Felt lightheaded. Sweaty hands feet. Lasted a couple hours. No other reaction besides sore arm.
I have had this same reaction to different medications and to caffeine in the past. Hoping to see an allergist to see why I’m so hypersensitive. Was told by pharmacist when I went to have the 2nd dose that I should have that done in a clinical setting not a grocery store because of my reaction to dose 1. That my body may react worse 2nd time. Clinical setting is difficult to find.

ChrisApril 24, 2021 5:08 PM

I had the first Pfizer shot on 3/11. I was getting ready for my 2nd shot on 4/1/2021 when I realized my tongue was swelling and I had hives on the site of first shot. My husband decided we better go to an emergency center and forgo the second shot. I described my symptoms and they rushed to give me an epi pen shot and called an ambulance to take me to the hospital. The nurse at the emergency clinic commented that she saw that I was taking Lisinopril which has a documented anaphylactic reaction in a small percent of people. But I have taken Lisinopril for over 15 years. What I find curious is that the clinic and its associated hospital emergency room didn’t report it to the CDC. I self filed a VARES report but have not been contacted. I have two recommendations.

First the CDC should look at hospital records for any spike in epi pen shots. Second I think there needs to be an increase in public awareness that tongue swelling is highly dangerous and can be associated to Lisinopril users (short term and long term use) and any other drugs with known interaction. I was totally unaware of a potential reaction to Lisinopril. I am also concerned about under reporting of incidents. No one has contacted me and I even spoke to my county health department about my reaction and they don’t appear to have reported it. And my family physician hasn’t reported it but told me not to take the second shot because it is too dangerous.

You made some good decisions. I’m glad! For years I’ve followed Joe and Terry Graedon’s The People’s Pharmacy. Now, they have an e-newsletter one can subscribe as well as their radio program back East and the books they’ve written. They have lots of info and patient comments on reactions to Lisinopril and hundreds of other drugs. And, yes, reactions like yours and other serious s/e can crop up after successfully taking Lisinopril and other drugs for years!

Hi Ashley, I’ve had muscle twitching the last 5 weeks. I think anxiety is a large factor. Curious, have you seen a neurologist or had any tests??

AshleyApril 28, 2021 10:37 PM

I did see a neurologist but they were no help. Blood work came back fine and they haven’t wanted to run any additional tests. What about you? Where is your twitching?

I am sure the anxiety does not make it better but it is definitely not the cause 🙂

Andrew SApril 29, 2021 11:09 AM

I have seen a neurologist as well. Blood work came back OK as well. Twitching is in the arm that I received the shot, calves and have had a little in my stomach. What about you? The neurologist said bening fasciculations. I may ask for an EMG/nerve conduction test just to calm my anxiety … My doctor also gave me a very low dosage of Cholazapem (sp) which has helped my sleeping greatly

AshleyApril 29, 2021 3:58 PM

It started in my toes (went away) but I’ve had it everywhere at this point… Stomach, arms, hands.. Neurologist also assumes its benign since I have no other symptoms but I would also like other testing done for my anxiety. It’s terrible. I could definitely use something for my sleep!

Andrew SMay 4, 2021 12:49 PM

Just to give you an update, I received a clear NCS/EMG today… seems like benign fasciculation syndrome triggered by the stress of the vaccine/auto immune response… have one final follow-up with the Neurologist Thursday, but hoping the health anxiety will now subside … any news from you?
